Industry 4.0 is the name given to the fourth industrial revolution, which is characterized by the integration of digital technologies into production processes. Industry 4.0 aims to create intelligent systems capable of adapting to customer needs, optimizing resources and communicating with each other. For example, a Factory 4.0 can use sensors, robots, drones or 3D printers to automate certain tasks, collect data in real time and adjust production according to demand. Even if it’s commonly acknowledged that Industry 4.0 is more about the shop floor, the whole digitalization of products and processes is clearly intimately linked to these topics.

CATIA and Industry 4.0
Catia is a 3D, computer-aided engineering and manufacturing software package for the design of complex products such as airplanes, cars and ships. Catia is used by over 3 million users worldwide, including major aerospace and automotive manufacturers. For example, a designer can use Catia to create a 3D model of an aircraft, simulate it under different flight conditions, validate it according to safety standards and transfer it to the production line. it’s what we call a Digital Twin
Industry 4.0 and Dassault Système software are closely linked, as they aim to accelerate innovation, improve quality and reduce costs. Thanks to this software, manufacturers can design virtual products that faithfully reproduce the real-life behavior of physical products. They can also simulate different scenarios and test product performance before manufacturing. Finally, they can connect products to each other and to their environment, to create personalized, optimized experiences.
